all horns and thorns

A Boy and a Girl.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I assure you I support equal opportunity awkward adolescent portraiture. Awkward boys in suits are just as welcome as librarians, girls sitting by windows, walking through fields, or doing other wistful things with their gangly knees and elbows. I hope I'm not becoming too formulaic. Let's call it personal iconography.

Things on my mind lately include sourdough bread, ducks of the french variety, my much neglected sketchbook, Ireland, harpists, and just how loud I can play this on my morning drive to work without blowing out my speakers.

Thanks for reminding me how loud my speakers are. I now have a constant ringing in my right ear after clicking that link.

As long as you enjoy it and are making badass pictures (such as this beast) who cares whether its an awkward girl or not? I bet you could paint a beautifully sophisticated 65 year old woman just as well. I think this proves my point quite well: http://emcguire.blogspot.com/2009/04/of-fuzzy-hats-and-also-muffs.html

This is just insanely adorable. I love his hat and coat. =) Are you doing these all digital or what?

Yeah, when I just do work like this to relax, I like to not worry about drawing it on paper first. If I need something very specific from the drawing, I'll sit down with tracing paper and go through the right steps to getting it right. But this was more for fun, so it started in photoshop and the composition evolved to fit the piece. Not the best method always, but seems to work for me :)

You don’t have to worry about a thing like that. I find your art work very appealing and beautiful. This piece you posted is simply stunning.

I just love this piece it’s very romantic, a boy and a girl standing under the tree. You can almost feel the feeling of being in love and be loved. That’s what makes this piece very interesting.
